About Us

We are 3 students from Island School in Hong Kong doing a community project about guide dogs and people who are blind. We made this website to promote advocacy about guide dogs in Hong Kong. We feel that it is important for the blind to have qualified and trained guide dogs.

How to Help

Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association provides different kinds of volunteer work. They have a puppy raiser program. Puppies are placed at 8 weeks of age in the homes of the Puppy Raisers and remain with the raiser until about 14 months of age. A full-time Puppy Raising Supervisor who works throughout the program with the Puppy Raising families supports the program. Being a Puppy Raiser requires a lot of commitment, time, and dedication.

If puppy raising isn't for you, they also have general volunteer work which is arranging, preparing and attending events alongside their staff members. HKGDA also has volunteer work for public speaking. The association does many seminars to many social, educational and professional groups and they need volunteers for public speaking. If you have any special skills that you think could help them, they have a Special Skills program which can include being able to translate from Cantonese to English and vice versa.
